1. Methodology

Our teaching model is based on practical training that is highly personalised to our students, allowing them to combine theoretical knowledge with professional practices through real internships in companies, schools, hospitals and day-care centres, as well as workshops and practical seminars. We are proud to boast more than 15 years of experience training experts in psychology.

We promote an active, entrepreneurial spirit among our students, for example with the creation of the Psykhé Group. This group organises the Annual Psychology Students' Day, where students present a project or study they have created during their degree to the public. This helps to reinforce our students' research skills early on, and provides valuable experience in public presentations.

2. Psychological Therapeutic Care Unit

Students in the third and fourth year of their Psychology Degree attend psychopathology sessions that are part of the Official Master’s Degree in General Health Psychology. Taught in UAO CEU's Psychological Therapeutic Care Unit at the Sagrat Cor University Hospital (part of the Quirónsalud group), this gives students the chance to attend and supervise clinical sessions with real patients.

3. Soft Skills

Degrees in Psychology include this programme of emotionala nd social skills so students will learn to adapt to their environment, work well with others, carry out their duties responsibly and achieve their personal and professional goals. Over the course of the four years of the degree, transversal seminars and workshops will be carried out.

4. Internal Research Students

The role of internal research students was created to allow stduents to carry out functions supporting research and applying their knowledge, be it in university teams or as part of hospital centres at various hospitals in Catalonia.

5. Optional minor

A new plan that encourages students from all degrees to think internationally from their first year to their fourth, with:

  • international collaboration activities
  • academic exchanges for teaching staff and students
  • participation in international research projects
  • short and long stays at foreign universities

Quality and regulation

Students must have an interest in how the mind functions and working with people. Similarly, they must have a solid understanding of biology and science; an interest in the fundamentals of human life; and the ability to analyse and identify problems and propose solutions. Furthermore, they require a vocation for analysis, synthesis of ideas and team work, a flair for understanding concepts and abstract ideas, the ability to express ideas clearly, a level of sociability, a broad world view, and a perspective of the changes going on in the world. They must also have an interest in people's well-being and respect for their inalienable dignity.

Knowledge of another language (preferably English) is required, as is a flair for communication.

  • To gain a solid understanding of the historical, philosophical, methodological, biological, systematic and evolutionary basics of psychology.
  • To gain a solid understanding of health psychology and the rare and pathological variants of the psyche.
  • To gain a full understanding of different psychological evaluation, diagnostic and treatment methods in applied areas of psychology.
  • To gain an education, inspired by Christian humanism, that searches for the truth and encourages a personal commitment to the human dignity of individuals and the common good.
  • To be able to understand, evaluate, critique and argue theoretical and practical approaches to psychology and ethics.
  • To develop habits of reasoning, debating and researching in psychology, as well as communicating knowledge clearly and concisely.
  • To develop psychological evaluation and intervention abilities in the main areas of the profession, in collaboration with others.
  • To become a responsible and diligent psychologist who works for the good of people and institutions within a framework of professional ethics.
