Degree in PSYCHOLOGY and CRIMINOLOGY

We are the only Catalan university to offer the Double Degree in Psychology + Criminology and Security.

Why UAO CEU?

1. Double qualification

Abat Oliba CEU University is a pioneer in the methodology that allows students to combine two qualifications and gain two degrees in five years. The Degree in Criminology and Security is taught in a blended learning format, allowing students to combine it with their Psychology studies.

This double degree combines an all-round psychology education with theory on criminology and security. Furthermore, it applies this knowledge to practical experience, so students become specialists in both fields. This will undoubtedly broaden the professional horizons of students in the field of crime prevention and investigation.

At UAO CEU, students gain the necessary skills to easily and confidently move into the profession. They have the support of experienced professors with vast knowledge on the psyche and human behaviour, as well as crime prevention and investigation. Furthermore, they have years of experience in various areas of practice and above all, a strong desire to lead by example, transmitting the values that characterise a true professional.

2. Leadership and Employability: Design YOUR Future

New Design YOUR Future Employability Acceleration Program for students of all Bachelor's Degrees at CEU universities, aiming to improve employability and facilitate integration into the professional world by reducing the time from the first work experience. Developed by the Employability Commission of the CEU Employability Advisory Council and designed by future employers, it focuses on understanding the labour market and how companies work.

3. Methodology

A teaching model based on practical and individualised training that allows students to link theoretical knowledge with professional practice through real internships in companies, schools, hospitals and daycare centres, as well as workshops and practical seminars.

It promotes an active, entrepreneurial attitude among students, like the creation of Grupo Psykhé. The group organises the Annual Day of Psychology Students, in which, through different subject areas, students present a project or study they have created during their degree to the public. This reinforces early research work and valuable experience for public presentations.

4. Professional empowerment

The Degree in Criminology and Security includes qualifications from the advanced course in Private Security Management and the qualification in Private Investigation, both accredited by the Ministry of the Interior and aimed at the professional training of private security managers and private detectives, respectively.

5. Employability and job quality

86.7% of our psychology students find work after finishing their studies, 5 percentage points above the average for Catalan universities (AQU employability survey 2017). 87.7% of our students are satisfied with their psychology studies, the second-highest level out of all Catalan universities (AQU 2017).

6. Soft Skills

Degrees in Psychology include this programme of emotionala nd social skills so students will learn to adapt to their environment, work well with others, carry out their duties responsibly and achieve their personal and professional goals. Over the course of the four years of the degree, transversal seminars and workshops will be carried out.

7. Internal student researcher

With the creation of this role, students may support research and apply their knowledge, whether in university teams or in health centres, as already happens in several hospitals around Catalonia.

8. Optional mention

Specialised training in the most high-demand areas of professional psychology:

  • Health: Mention in Clinical and Health Psychology

9. CEU ePlus skills programme

A teaching model based on practical, personalised education that links theory to professional practice through case studies and real experiences, workshops and practical seminars.

It includes visits to national and international companies and production centres through internships.
